FAQs on Personal Training
What exactly does a personal trainer do? Can't I get fit on my own?
Isn't it expensive?
Sounds great if you're a celebrity but I'm a normal person with a job, kids, work travel, etc. How do I fit in personal training, too?
These are typical questions we receive on a daily basis and trust me, they are all valid concerns. Personal training sounds indulgent and posh but really, it is a means to total body health and conditioning with build-in accountability. Personal trainers are commonly understood as part of a celebrity entourage but we aren't those kind of personal trainers. We are here to help you reach personal health and fitness goals. We WANT you to succeed. It is a bittersweet day when our clients no longer "need"to see us as often as their knowlege of health and fitness, combined with their personal commitment, renders us a bit less necessary than before. That's OK. We are happy to see our clients set out on their own path and no matter what type of schedule you require (thrice-weekly sessions/bi-weekly/monthly/seasonl check-ups) we are here to help YOU!
Of COURSE people can get fit on their own and many do all the time. However, if you're like a lot of other people, you find the process overwhelming and can't remember what the latest Do's and Don'ts are. Are sit-ups better than crunches? What is a Plank? There are endless questions to be answered and we are here to make the process easier and remove any confusion. Of course you can go off on your own but we would like to propose one question: Do you service/repair your own car or do you see a professional first? You body is your number one machine...who do you want treating it?
Personal training is perhaps more expensive initially than joining a class or a gym but what you get in return is a program designed specifically for you, your body, your needs, your previous injuries, your likes, your dislikes...we could go on and on, but you get the picture. However many times you see us afterward is up to you.
Now, on occassion some clients do find themselves with more disposible income than most and have requested personal trainerss to travel with them. Please contact us personally to discuss this option.
The largest time commitment is the personal assessment. This does require 1.5-2 hours of your time, but we work with you and your schedule to do so. We can bounce a baby on our laps while you do 50 jumping-jacks or meet up at 5:30am for a jog. The personal part of personal training means it is customized to fit YOUR life, not ours.
So, it works like this. You call or email us and we'll go from there. There is no fee until we begin the assessment process so ask any and all questions.
